Record and edit videos on your Mac.

Capture your screen and camera in one take, cut it on a timeline, then export or share a link. Free and open source.

00:00Record

Frame the shot first.

Pick 9:16 or 16:9 and a layout before you press record. The preview is the export.

Composition

Try it. These are the same four compositions as the app, with frames from a real take.

  1. Switch scenes while you talk

Move from a split to your camera alone mid-sentence. Nothing to redo later.

  2. Backgrounds and crops

Padding, corners, and backgrounds are set before the take, not after.

  3. Know when it's ready

The Dock icon shows when you're recording, and a progress bar tracks the take as it finalizes.

00:21iPhone camera

Use your iPhone as the camera.

Pair with a six-digit code and frame the shot from your Mac. The iPhone records at full quality, sharper than Continuity Camera, and the file lands in your take when you stop.

    Cuts you can see

Waveforms, red silence markers, and hover scrubbing. Delete a range or extend a clip, and undo any step.

    Layouts, text, and zoom

Change the composition for one segment, add titles, and zoom into the screen where the detail matters.

Export in 4K and post anywhere.

Save an MP4 at 60 fps and speed up slow talk to 2x, in 0.1 steps. The size estimate updates as you go.

  1. Fast on any Mac

Metal rendering and hardware encoding, on Apple silicon and Intel.

  2. Its own folder

Exports go to a folder you pick. Your recordings stay put in the project library.

  3. Captions with BlitzReels

Sign in once, send the MP4, and get captions and B-roll back.

01:34Share

Share a link, not a file.

Upload the edit from the sidebar next to the editor and send one link. Viewers can search what was said and skip to the part they need.

Optional hosting: €9 a month plus tax, with 50 GB of storage and 5 hours of uploads every 30 days. The app and local exports stay free.

  1. Keep editing while it uploads

Pause and resume the transfer, and reopen the project's link whenever you need it.

  2. Easy to watch

Adaptive streaming up to 1080p, with a searchable transcript and chapters next to the video.

  3. Sign in with an email code

No BlitzReels account or password. Revoke a link from the app and it stops working.

Also in the app.

Questions, answered.

Do I need an account or a license key?

No. Recording, editing, 4K and 60 fps export, transcripts, and the iPhone camera work without an account, email, or key. Share links need a BlitzRecorder account, which you sign in to with an email code. Sending videos to BlitzReels is an optional integration.

What does video hosting include?

Hosting is €9 a month plus tax: 50 GB of storage, 5 hours of new uploads every 30 days, and streaming up to 1080p. A single video can use your whole upload allowance, whatever its size. Cancel from the app. Links stop when the subscription ends, and files are removed 30 days later.

Where do my recordings go?

To a folder you choose on your Mac, with exports in a folder of their own. Transcription runs on your Mac too. Nothing is uploaded unless you share a link. The apps include no analytics or crash-reporting SDK.

Which Macs are supported?

Any Mac with macOS 15 Sequoia or later, Apple silicon or Intel. The iPhone camera app needs iOS 18 or later.

Is there a Windows version?

Windows Studio is an early capture app. It records your screen, microphone, camera, and system audio, and plays the take back. The editor is Mac only for now. Installers are on GitHub Releases.

What is BlitzReels?

BlitzReels is the company behind BlitzRecorder. Its web app finds the best moments in a long recording, reframes them for vertical video, and adds captions. Sending a video there is optional.
